Parking in Las Ramblas

One of the world’s favourite streets 

Are you going to Barcelona? Now, what’s the one thing that a trip there wouldn’t be complete without - a stroll down Las Ramblas of course! There’s a reason why this street, or series of connected streets is so popular amongst locals and tourists. Maybe its the countless tapas bars and restaurants, gift shops or street performers which give this place its unique feel. It used to be a river, but it’s now it doesn’t follow with water, but with people soaking up its unique atmosphere. 

It connects the Plaça de Catalunya with the centre of the Christopher Colombus Monument in Port Vell, and it’s pretty great too to see Barcelona’s evolution, as the road gets more and more modern the closer you get to the sea. So what’s stopping you? Can you think of anything better that sipping on a cold cerveza under a tree whilst watching the hustle and bustle pass on by. 

Thanks to its super central location, it’s also great because there’s 3 metro stops dotted along this road stretching just over 1 kilometre, the Catalunya, Liceu and Drassanes Metro Stations. Now, don’t be thinking that it’s just a hyped-up road in Barcelona, it’s a road with loads to do too! Along it, you’ll be able to see the Gran Theatre Liceu, the explore the wonders in the Mercado de la Boquería and marvel at the Palau de la Virreina.  

But, now those amongst you who are observant will realise that it's a bit strange to have a street name in the plural, well that's because there's not just one Ramblas but five! Each with a distinct and very different character to the other. In Rambla Canaletes, you’ll find the Plaza Catalonia, which is in the upper part of the neighborhood. The Rambla de los Estudios is known as such because it used to house the University of Barcelona. Here you’ll also find the old bird market. The Ramblas de las Flores is a unique place because of the flowers and plants that give it the most colour out of all the Ramblas . To visit the Boquería Market, you’ll also come to this area. Another important region is the Rambla de los Capuchinos, where the main tourist attractions are located, including the Palacio Güell, Plaça Reial and Gran Teatro Liceo. And last but not least, the tour ends at the Rambla de Santa Mónica, the entrance to the Barcelona docks, where you can drink and dance the night away.
