Where to park in Mercado de La Boquería
The Mercado de la Boquería is the biggest and perhaps the best market in the whole of Catalonia, and it’s one of the most visited tourist attractions in all the city.
Now, parking in Barcelona is quite a complicated task, plus if you try want to find a parking space in the centre, which near the tourist attractions, on the day of your visit, well that seems just about impossible to us.
Car parking in Barcelona is divided into two zones, the blue zone and the green zone. You can park in the blue zone for a maximum of four hours, and the green zone is mainly for residents, but of course you have to pay as well for the pleasure of abiding by these restrictions. Now, the other option, which we recommend is leaving your vehicle in a monitored car park which you can find all over the city. The Mercado de la Boquería is really called the Mercado de San José and it has a fantastic location on the famous Las Ramblas, which starts at the Plaça de Catalunya and ends at the Port of Barcelona! Here you’ll be able to find 300 different stalls all offering Barcelona’s fresh local produce, as well as some more exotic items! Now this is definitely worth a visit during your trip to Barcelona! The market stretches over 2500 metres squared, and is perfect to sample all the world’s delicacies! Even if you don't want to buy anything, just walking through it, it is such a feast for the senses.. sights, smells, noises, tastes.
The Mercado de la Boquería is the biggest in the whole of Catalonia, and it’s come a long way since when it opened as an open air market in 1840, where producers and sellers were given an appointment to take the stage in front of the public. The metal cover of the market was installed in 1914. This iconic market was remodelled in the year 2000 in order to adapt it to what it is today.
Visiting the Mercado de la Boquería is a must do on any trip to the Catalan capital, to do it the easiest way possible, book your parking before you set off, so that way you know that when you arrive you wont have to waste any time on the hunt for a ridiculously priced parking space!
