An urban palace shaped in a baroque style

The Palau de la Virreina of Barcelona refers to the Palace of the viceroy’s wife, which is a structure with impressive dimensions dating back to the 18th century. Its baroque style makes it amongst the most emblematic buildings within the whole district.

The construction of this building was ordered by the Marquis de Castellbell, Manuel de Amat i Junient, so as to move and live in Barcelona. At the time, the palace was a symbol of extreme prosperity.

The construction started in 1772 and carried on until 1778, and when the viceroy died, his wife occupied the premises of this historically prestigious building, hence giving the name to the palace.

After being declared as a National Monument in 1941, nowadays, this Palace has become the cultural headquarters of Barcelona, where many temporary and permanent exhibitions are held and open to all.

This cultural adventure is free and can be experienced only between 12:00 PM and 8 PM, which gives you the time to have a lie in, then have a brunch before taking a stroll through las Ramblas, from the Parque de la Cuidadela.

In order to visit the Palau de la Virreina of Barcelona in complete peace of mind, book your parking space with Parclick and enjoy one of the most popular cultural visits of the city!
