Where can I park for free in Paris?

Although very few, there are some free parkings in Paris in the 12th and 16th arrondissement. Nevertheless, finding a place to Park to Paris can be very difficult due to the number of people searching for parking spots, both residents and tourists. Free parking is even more hard to find since these types of parkings are very quickly full.

Most parkings in Paris are quite expensive and have a limited amount of parking time allowed. In the city center parkings are mostly priced at 4 euros per hour while parkings on the outskirts are priced at 2,40 euros per hour. Chances are that you don’t want to just park for one hour only, yet keep in mind that in these parkings, once you reach 6 hours, it will cost you 50 euros. You will also need to move your vehicle since the maximum on-street parking time in Paris is 6 hours.

This is why we would recommend you to book a parking space in one of our low-cost, monitored parkings, that will allow you to save money and time. We have parkings in Paris’s city center, next to the city’s points of interest but also cheaper parkings in the city’s outskirts, where you can leave your car and then visit Paris using public transport.

Is the Louvre worth seeing?

Situated at the centre of Paris’ first arrondissement, the Louvre Museum is certainly one of the capital’s cultural symbols and is definitely with the visit. It is actually one of the largest museums on a global scale, extending over 60 000 square metres and containing no less than half a million works – including the famous Mona Lisa. It is also the most visited museum in the world, and welcomes between 8 to 10 million visitors each year.

Palais du Louvre in its current form dates from the 16th century: it has undergone extensive renovations (becoming a royal residence rather than the fortress which it was, originally) as well as a fusion with Palais des Tuileries. Its collections increased as years went by; its first exhibitions date back to the end of the 18th century, and the museum was inaugurated in 1793. The famous Louvre Pyramide which currently stands at the centre of Napoleon’s court was built at the end of the 1780s, following the Grand Louvre project.

The Louvre Museum faces Place du Carrousel and the Jardin des Tuileries. You can easily get there by car through Quai François Mitterrand as well as Quai des Tuileries, which are connected to the Seine’s other bank by Ponts Arts and Pont du Carrousel.  You can also walk to Pont-Neuf and l’île de la Cité, Comédie Française or even Palais Royal within a 10 minute radius around the Louvre.

Are there elevators in the Louvre?

The Louvre has a unique elevator, an ultramodern hydraulic elevator, that has a very futuristic design. Installed in the late 1980s, the elevator is not any ordinary elevator, it has a cylindrical shape and an open space, and gives the impression when it goes from the ground to the first floor, that it is arising from the ground. Moreover, what makes it even more interesting and a modern artwork itself is the spiral staircase around it. This elevator can carry up to 10 people and is also very silent, and was created to help people with reduced mobility.

Does the Louvre have wheelchairs?

The Louvre indeed has wheelchairs available at the entrance as well as other equipment and devices for aid hearing. It also has many wheelchair lifts to make all galleries accessible although the amount of wheelchair lifts (20!) can make it a bit complex to navigate.

Can you bring water into the Louvre?

Yes , you are allowed to bring water into the Louvre and we would actually recommend you to bring a bottle of water, especially if you go during the summer, and to pack a couple of snacks. Don’t forget to bring your camera as well since you’ll probably want to keep a memory of the amazing paintings you’ll see but be careful of pickpockets!

If you wish to park in the area, Parclick strongly recommends booking a parking space close to the Louvre. Parking in the city centre is actually expensive and limited to six hours. Hence if you intend to visit the Louvre, leaving your car in a car park without stressing about moving your vehicle, the only option you have is to reserve in our long stay car parks. Facile et pratique. Réservation en ligne rapide

The QR code has never worked in the many times we have parked here but the staff are helpful at sorting this out. Would be nice if you could fix this though as it is quite annoying. Lift is broken half the time.

All perfect

There are also electric loading options for your car. This was a pleasant surprise!
