Car parks near La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona

Parking near La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona can be very complicated due to the lack of existing public parking spaces. In addition, these places usually belong to the ‘área azul’ and the área verde’ (blue and green area), where it is mandatory to buy a parking ticket. What is important to take into account, if you are going to leave your car in one of these areas, is that there is a limit to how long you can park, so you will have to move the vehicle before it expires. As for the nearby car parks, there are usually only a few spaces available, especially at peak hours. For this reason, a good option is to reserve the parking space beforehand. With Parclick you can do it online using our very simple process. Below is a bit of information on the Sagrada Familia, including some of our car parks in the area surrounding it:

La Sagrada Familia: an unfinished masterpiece

The the most famous historical monument in Barcelona is, without a doubt, the Sagrada Familia. This unfinished temple is an impressive display of the stunning modernist architecture of Gaudí. Construction started in the year 1882, with a clear neo gothic vision. But a year later the project was handed over to the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, who made all manner of changes until some of his plans and sketches, more suited to his vision, were approved. The Sagrada Familia is an absolute must-see in the Ciudad Condal (Barcelona). Its location makes it easy to leave a vehicle in one of the neighbouring car parks. Gaudí’s new design became an imposing work of modern architecture. When it is finally completed, the Sagrada Familia will have 18 towers, according to the plans left by the architect. Sadly, Gaudí passed away in the year 1926 leaving unfinished the masterpiece that has raised him to the highest level within the history of Spanish architecture. In his lifetime he could only see one of the 18 towers that will make up the Catalan church. Thanks to the perfect conservation of the original designs, it has been possible to continue work in line with Gaudí’s immense creation. Other artists have recreated every detail that Gaudí left perfectly drawn. Today eight of the eighteen towers have been built, the towers that have an important symbolic meaning to their creator. Twelve of them represent the apostles, 4 the evangelists, one for the Virgin Mary and the last for Jesus Christ. The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona has three different facades; Nacimiento, Pasión and Gloria (Nativity, Passion and Glory). The last is the largest, the most important and reflects the death and glory of Jesus Christ. The most cheerful and the one containing the most architectural elements is Nacimiento. For the inside of the Sagrada Familia, Gaudí took inspiration from nature, creating a forest of stone that you cannot afford to miss. Now you can go on a guided tour of the church and even go up some of the towers by using the famous lifts which take visitors do the dizzy heights at the top, where the views of Barcelona and the details of the façade are truly magnificent.
