Where to park in San Giorgio Maggiore

San Giorgio Maggiore is a small island in Venice, which is opposite the San Marco Basin, the district to which it belongs. It is separated from the island of Giudecca only by the small Canale della Grazia. Here you will find the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore. To find parking near San Giorgio Maggiore, you can check out the Parclick map! You will find the best car parks in Venice! As it’s an island, you cannot reach San Giorgio Maggiore by car…only by boat or by the many public waterbus (vaporetto) services of the city, such as line 2, which leaves from Piazzale Roma. Piazzale Roma is therefore one of the options that Parclick recommends for you to park near San Giorgio Maggiore, since it is the main car parking area in Venice, while another good idea is to park in Venice Mestre, on the mainland, where you can reach the lagoon and Piazzale Roma either by train from Mestre Station to Venice Santa Lucia, or by one of the many public buses that cross the Ponte della Libertà several times a day to the city of Venice. Whatever you choose, you can book your parking space near San Giorgio Maggiore in advance with Parclick!

San Giorgio Maggiore

The Island and the Church

The Church of San Giorgio, which is part of a larger monastery complex, was designed together with the dining hall by Andrea Palladio. Construction began in 1566 but was completed only in 1610 by Vincenzo Scamozzi. Inside the church there are also some preserved paintings of great interest such as the Raccolta della manna and L'Ultima cena di Tintoretto. Since 1954, the Teatro Verde, a large open-air amphitheatre, and more recently the Compagnia della Vela's Sports Centre of Excellence, have also been built on the small island. The island of San Giorgio Maggiore also allows you to admire the San Marco Basin and various views of the lagoon from a different point of view, from which you can enjoy relaxing walks and picturesque sunsets. All you have to do is book your car park near San Giorgio Maggiore with Parclick and hey presto, it’s done! You are free to go whenever you want without worrying about where to leave the car.
