Parking in Torre Agbar (Torre Glòries)

The Torre Glòries, more widely known by its former name the Torre Agbar, is one of the most famous skyscrapers in Barcelona. At night, it lights up the sky with a dazzling visual display which has turned it into a major tourist hotspot that attracts numerous visitors every day. This famous tower is located on Avinguida Diagonal, next to Plaça de les Glòries. Parking near the Torre is by no means the easiest task. The traffic in this area is quite dense and there is no free public parking. Most of the parking in the area is regulated by certain parking zones (the green and blue zones), which limit the parking time and also charge some fairly hefty fees. The green zone is mainly intended for residents, but also visitors, as long as they only stay a maximum of 2 hours. Alternatively, you can park in the blue zone for a maximum of 4 hours. Be sure to pay the appropriate fees and to stay inside the time constraints, otherwise you may be handed a rather unfriendly fine! Torre Agbar (Torre Glòries)

The Torre Agbar of Barcelona is one of the tallest buildings in the city, standing on its tip-toes it reaches 142m. The former owners of the building, Agbar, gave their name to it but after it was bought by Merlin Properties the name was changed to Glòries, the name of the square on which it stands. In total, the tower consists of 32 storeys and covers a space of just over 50,000 square metres, the majority of which is office space, plus a few other facilities and an auditorium.

In terms of its appearance, it looks rather a lot like The Gherkin in London. This striking skyscraper was built between 2001-2004 and designed by the famous French architect Jean Nouvel. Its characteristic spherical shape and impressive night lighting – 4,500 LED devices which can combine to create 16 million colours and spectacular images and displays - have made it an iconic building of the city. Not just at night but depending on the time of day and the amount of sunshine, the tower can be seen to change colour due to the arrangement of glass and aluminium on its outer shell.
