But Venice isn’t just a feast for the eyes. Its port is the eighth largest in Italy for commercial traffic, and is one of the most important in the Mediterranean as far as cruises are concerned.

The number of people taking cruises out of Porto di Venezia is staggering! • You can book a car park in the centre of Venice, in Piazzale Roma to be precise, which is the only place on the lagoon where it is possible to get to by car. This is a great choice if you need to get to the Stazione Marittima in a very short period of time, either on foot or using the People Mover train, which runs from Piazzale Roma, through the port and finally arrives at the artificial island, Tronchetto. Of course, you will have to pay a little extra for parking so near the centre.
• If the cost is what is worrying you, it is possible to book a car park in Mestre instead, near Venezia Mestre train station. The parking here is a bit cheaper, and to get to the port, your only obstacle is the Ponte della Libertà which you can negotiate using one of the many trains or buses departing from the station and will only take about 15 mins.
• The third option is decidedly more comfortable. Leave your car in one of our Mestre car parks, which offers a free shuttle service to the Porto di Venezia! Using this method, you won’t spend too much, the car park will be easy to find and you are not trapped by the constraints of public transport when trying to get to the Stazione Marittima, as the shuttle will be ready, awaiting your arrival!
