Two of the most classic and ancient celebrations of the Venice Carnival are the Festa delle Marie and the Volo dell'Angelo (flight of the angel). The latter opens the carnival celebrations, with the participation of some famous people who, thanks to a metal cable, fly over Piazza San Marco, the heart of Venice, from the bell tower of the Basilica di San Marco, to the Palazzo Ducale (Ducal Palace).
