Stretching about 11 kilometres, it crosses the city diagonally (hence its name) between the districts of Sant Martí and Les Corts. It intersects with some of the most important streets in the city such as Passeig de Gràcia, La Rambla, Passeig Sant Joan and the Avenida de les Glòries Catalanes, as it disects the Plaza de les Glòries. The Avenida Diagonal is also one of the most important commercial focuses of the city.
