Where to park in Milazzo
How do you find parking in Milazzo?
The town is very busy, both because of its many tourist attractions and because the Aeolian Islands can be easily reached from the port. No one likes to find themselves out in the sun looking for a parking space, so here's everything you need to know for your trip: where the free parking is, how to find low-cost parking in Milazzo and where to leave your car when you leave the port.
What to do in Milazzo
Located just a few kilometres from Messina, the town of Milazzo is mainly used as a ferry port for the Aeolian Islands. However, it would be a mistake to leave right away and not take a day to visit this little pearl of Sicily. In fact, Milazzo has many historical and natural attractions that are well worth a visit. The main one is undoubtedly the Castle (or Fortified Citadel) of Milazzo, which covers an area of over 7 hectares and is one of the most impressive, fortified complexes in Europe. From here you can enjoy a breathtaking 360° panoramic view. If, on the other hand, you prefer nature, you should drive to the northern tip of the Milazzo peninsula. There, there is a crescent-shaped bay called Baia di Sant'Antonio with a beautifully coloured seabed. Continuing foot, you can also take a nature trail that leads to the famous Piscina di Venere. Finally, if you simply want to enjoy a day at the beach, try going to the Riviera di Ponente. There you will find plenty of free beaches with crystal clear waters and spectacular views of the Aeolian Islands. In short, there is plenty to do. Now let's see together where you should park.
Where should I park my car in Milazzo?
Where to park my car in Milazzo without paying?
Finding free parking in Milazzo is not easy even for its own inhabitants. The historic centre and the promenade are always crowded and finding a spot can be desperate. If you don't want to pay to leave your car, things get even more complicated. If you want to park near the harbour, there are a few white striped parking spaces on the parallel streets. They are almost always full, but it may be worth a try. You can try to find them in Via Giorgio Rizzo, Via Colonnello Berte and Via Umberto I. Please note, however, that these car parks are regulated by time discs and allow a maximum of two hours parking. The only alternative is to park in the blue striped car parks at night, but this is obviously an emergency solution. If you want to leave your car for longer (perhaps to catch a ferry) we recommend you try other ways - literally.
Low-cost parking
Except for the streets, we have listed above, all other car parks in the centre and port of Milazzo are metered. Fortunately, the blue-striped car parks are reasonably affordable. You pay for parking from Monday to Saturday between 8 am and 8 pm, and the daily ticket costs about 4 euros. If you want to stop for less, you can also pay for coupons at the price of 0.60 euros per 30 minutes. However, if you want more security, we suggest you leave your car in one of Milazzo's many low-cost car parks. The centre and the harbour are full of garages and garages offering covered and guarded parking for reasonable prices, with shuttle service included. The first names that come to mind are Garage del Porto, Adige Car Centre, Garage Italia, but there are many others.
Where to park for the Aeolian Islands?
If you want to take the ferry, let's see together where you can leave your car to go to the Aeolian Islands. If you don't want to waste time looking for a parking space between the blue and white stripes, the best solution is to book a parking space in one of the many private facilities around the port. The closest solution is, without a doubt, the Porto di Milazzo car park. This is a structure close to the port terminal, managed by the C.V. agency and, in the summer months, is the ideal solution for leaving your car and going to the Aeolian Islands. The parking is constantly guarded and offers a free shuttle service and other extras such as car wash, tyre pressure, mechanic, refuelling and valet parking. The staff is also available to give you directions and book hotels and restaurants. However, this is not the only solution. There are many other facilities offering similar services at very affordable prices. Check out Garage Ferrari Milazzo, Garage Ullo or Garage delle Isole.
