Where to park in Amsterdam Oost

Parking Amsterdam-East
Amsterdam-East is a district of Amsterdam that includes the neighborhoods Omval, Weesperzijde, the Indischebuurt, Transvaalbuurt, Oostpoort and IJburg. The district is located east of the Singelgracht, with the Amstel as its border in the west and a large part of the A10 ring road as its southern border. The district in this form was created in 2010, when the former Oost-Watergraafsmeer and Zeeburg were merged.


Although the part of the city extends quite far to the east, the part closer to the center is especially popular. Here you will find spacious streets, bustling markets, a range of cultural activities, green parks and of course good restaurants.

Places of interest in Amsterdam Oost
There are a lot of fun things to do in Amsterdam Oost. If you don't have any plans yet, we would advise you to start at the Oosterpark area. Here you can not only relax in the green, but you will also find various playgrounds, a music dome, beautiful monuments and a paddling pool for the little ones in the summer. Close to the Oosterpark is the Tropenmuseum, which also has a children's section. Not part of Amsterdam Oost, but within walking distance from here, are the Artis Zoo and the Hortus Botanicus of Amsterdam in the Plantagebuurt.
Huize Frankendael is located on the other side of the Transvaalkade. It is a stately 17th century country house where exhibitions and special events are regularly organized. The accompanying gardens and park are also worth a visit.
Are you a fan of specialty beers? Then you can also indulge yourself in Amsterdam Oost. Many local microbreweries can be found. Would you rather go to the market? Then visit the Dappermarkt in the Dapperstraat. Here you will find fresh products such as meat, fish, cheese and clothing.
Fans of film and theater will also appreciate East Amsterdam. For example, they can watch special films at Studio/K on Timorplein, or go to the Mezrab cultural center for performances and music.

Parking Amsterdam-East

You can approach parking in Amsterdam Oost in various ways. With a lot of luck it is possible to find a parking space along the street, but then you have to be really lucky, because those parking spaces are not there for the taking. Moreover, they are usually not exactly cheap either.

Amsterdam Oost is well connected by public transport. Tram 1, for example, runs along the Oosterpark and connects Amsterdam-East with the west of the city. Handy if you want to visit the entertainment area around Leidseplein or the famous museums in the Museum Quarter! Tram 3 runs through Amsterdam Oost and takes you to De Pijp, among other things. Bus 22 connects the Indische Buurt with Amsterdam Central Station (Add link to parking Amsterdam Central). Important stations in Amsterdam Oost are Amsterdam Muiderpoort station, Amsterdam Amstel and Amsterdam Science Park.

So it doesn't really matter where you want to park in East Amsterdam, you can always easily travel to your final destination by public transport. In that respect, it is easier to park in Amsterdam Oost if you don't mind being a little further away from the center.
