Where to park in Milan

Milan is Italy's largest financial hub and one of the world's fashion capitals — and one of its busiest cities to drive in. Between the ZTL restricted zones, limited street parking and heavy traffic, finding a space can be time-consuming. With Parclick you can book a monitored, guaranteed parking space in Milan in advance, whether you're visiting the Duomo, staying for a week or catching a flight from Malpensa.

How much does parking cost in Milan?

Prices in the city centre typically start from around €2–3 per hour for monitored indoor garages, with daily rates ranging between €20 and €35 depending on proximity to the centre. Car parks further from the centre, near the ring road or in residential areas, tend to be significantly cheaper. Booking through Parclick ahead of your visit secures you a better rate than walk-in pricing and guarantees your spot.

How does the ZTL work in Milan — Area C and Area B

Milan has two overlapping restricted traffic zones (ZTL) that visitors need to be aware of:

Area C covers the historic centre inside the Cerchia dei Bastioni. To drive in, you must purchase a daily access ticket for €5 directly through the official channels (online or at authorised points of sale). The cameras at the zone entrances read plates automatically — if you enter without a valid ticket, you will receive a fine. Booking a car park inside Area C through Parclick gives you a guaranteed space in the zone, but you are responsible for purchasing the Area C entry ticket separately before driving in.

Area B covers almost the entire city of Milan and bans the most polluting vehicles (older diesel and petrol cars). The restrictions are being phased in progressively and will become increasingly strict. If you are driving a newer, low-emission vehicle you are likely to be permitted access; check the official Milan municipality website for the current vehicle category rules before your visit.

For a full breakdown of what each zone covers and how to comply, see the dedicated ZTL Milan page and the parking outside Area C options on Parclick.

How to pay for street parking in Milan

If you park on the street, the colour of the lines tells you the rules:

  • Blue lines: paid parking. You can pay directly through the Parclick app — no need to find a meter or return to your car to extend your time.
  • Yellow lines: reserved for residents. Do not park here — you will be fined or towed.
  • White lines: free parking with no time limit. These are rare in the city centre and almost always occupied.

On-street parking in central Milan is unreliable and limited. For any stay longer than a quick stop, a pre-booked monitored car park through Parclick is the most practical solution.
