It doesn´t matter if you´re Basque, Australian, French or Tom Cruise, parking in the center of Bilbao is mission impossible for everyone! (At least, everyone that doesn´t know about Parclick).
In fact, Bilbao is one of the prettiest cities that you can visit in the north of Spain, but the center is a tangle of streets where the old town (that´s completely for pedestrian traffic) converts into a place almost inaccessible by car.
If you dare to challenge the pedestrian streets, hoping that you won´t get fined, you will run into another small (in reality, it isn´t that small) problem: the OTA system! Basically, the OTA system is for regulating street parking spaces that are divided into green zones and blue zones.
In the blue zone, you can leave your car for a maximum of two hours and in the green zone, there is a maximum of five hours.
This means that, if in less than five hours you are capable of taking a stroll along the riverbank, exploring the Abandoibarra neighborhood, visiting the Guggenheim Museum, going into the Santiago de Bilbao Cathedral and, because why not, eating a few typical pintxos in any of the bars in the area, then you will win the gold medal of athleticism in the next Olympic Games!
However, if what you are looking for is a little more relaxed, we have an offer for you.
Reserve your parking spot beforehand in a monitored car park in the center of Bilbao. Parclick allows you to find a parking space for a few hours or a few days near the main points of interest in Bilbao. A guaranteed parking spot is what you need to start a calm visit to the city on foot or by public transportation, and it´s all thanks to Parclick.
People familiar with Bilbao agree that the most notable aspect of the city (besides the city itself) is that the modern and vanguard environment is kept extremely clean. Also, the center of Bilbao has a great point in its favor: the distances between areas and interesting places are pretty short. You can park your car in any of the car parks in Bilbao and walk throughout the city with ease, without needing to move your car each time you want to travel to a different district.
Then, let´s start!
The first thing you need to do is take photos in front of the famous metal structure of the Guggenheim Museum (yes, you can also go into the building) and then continue with your visit by seeing the Pasarela de ZubiZuri, a modern fountain designed by the Valencian architect, Santiago Calatrava.
After seeing so many cutting-edge structures, get some great food in the pure Basque style (here comes another platter of bacalao) and visit the medieval old town of Bilbao with the celebrated Siete Calles, that form part of the origins of the city, now over 700 years old.
And if, on top of all of this, you want to leave your car in good hands, you already know that the answer is Parclick!
