Where to park in Amsterdam Vondelpark
The Vondelpark, on the border of Amsterdam-Zuid and Amsterdam-West, is perhaps the most famous city park in the Netherlands and attracts many visitors every day. Since 1996, it has been registered as a national monument. The Vondelpark is a delightful place for recreation in the greenery while being in the midst of the bustling city, making it popular among both tourists and locals. In addition to a green environment, it also offers an open-air theatre that hosts free concerts and performances in the summer. There are various playgrounds, cafes, and restaurants, as well as a small pool that is open in the summer.
The Vondelpark is quite centrally located, and there is a lot to experience in the surrounding area. We will tell you what there is to do at the Vondelpark and explain everything to park affordably at the Vondelpark.
What to do at the Vondelpark
As you could already read, the Vondelpark is an ideal place to relax. Whether you enjoy running, walking, or reading a newspaper in the grass, the Vondelpark has something to offer everyone. In some parts of this elongated park, dogs are welcome. Unfortunately, barbecuing is not allowed.
Not only is there much to do in the Vondelpark itself. The park is within walking distance of the Museumkwartier, where every culture enthusiast can indulge. Here, around the Museumplein - with a park where festivals and events are organized in the summer - you'll find three important Amsterdam museums: the Rijksmuseum with the Night Watch, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Stedelijk Museum. Additionally, you can visit the modern art museum Moco or the Diamond Museum, and the Concertgebouw is within walking distance.
If you prefer a night out over cultural activities, you can park at the Vondelpark and, after a pleasant walk, head towards Leidseplein. This is a great area for catching a movie, sitting on a terrace, dining out, or going to a pub. But there are also nightclubs where you can dance the night away. You can, for example, dance at Jimmy Woo, Nova, Chicago Social, Lovelee, and Bubbles. For live performances and larger concerts, you can go to the Melkweg or Paradiso. If you want to explore Amsterdam's nightlife without being the designated driver, leave your car in a parking garage near the Vondelpark and book one of the many hotels nearby.
Parking at the Vondelpark
The Vondelpark is located in a relatively busy part of the city, just outside the canal belt. With the Museumkwartier and Leidseplein nearby, it's not surprising that parking at the Vondelpark without the right preparations can be quite stressful. One parking option is to try to find a spot on the street. However, these parking spots are quite scarce and not particularly advantageous. Add thousands of cyclists and other road users to this picture, and you'll understand why searching for a parking spot in the bustling city can be quite stressful.
Vondelpark Parking Garage
We recommend, therefore, using a parking garage at the Vondelpark. Via Parclick, you can easily reserve a spot in advance, ensuring that you don't have to endlessly drive around the city when you want to park at the Vondelpark.
Another option is to park your car at one of Amsterdam's P+R locations and then take public transport to the city centre. This is an inexpensive way to park in Amsterdam.
Parking at the Vondelpark, then using Public Transport
The reverse is, of course, also possible. You can park your car at the Vondelpark and, after a relaxed walk in this beautiful environment, switch to public transport to explore other parts of the city. The Museumkwartier and Leidseplein are within walking distance, but perhaps you want to go to Amsterdam Noord, the charming De Pijp, or to Amsterdam Centraal Station to visit the centre.
In that case, we have good news for you because the Vondelpark is well-connected to public transport. Tram 3 stops at the nearby Van Baerlestraat and takes you to the charming De Pijp. Trams 1 and 17 run along the north side of the Vondelpark. Tram 1 travels from west to east in the city, and tram 17 goes to Centraal Station, from where you can easily explore the centre or take the ferry to Amsterdam Noord.
Parking at the Vondelpark is easy if you reserve a spot in a parking garage at the Vondelpark in advance via Parclick!
