Marseille-Saint-Charles Station
1st Railway Station of Marseille
Dating back to 1848, Marseille station is used by 12 million passengers every year, making it one of the most important stations in France, not counting the Ile-de-France region, after Lyon-Part-Dieu, Lille-Flandres and Strasbourg-Ville stations.
The station is located on the Saint-Charles esplanade, which runs along the Boulevard Maurice-Bourdet. It is very well equipped with shops, a waiting room, a reception open until 1am, tourist office and of course the inevitable self-service piano which will help you wait for your train (yes, you will be so far ahead thanks to Parclick that you will have to wait a bit).
It is connected to the town centre by the staircase of the Saint-Charles station, going down to the Place des Marseillaises. Continuing along the Boulevard d'Athènes, you can reach the heart of the city. Of course, like any self-respecting station, it is very well served by public transport: metro (lines M1 and M2), buses and coaches, not to mention several self-service bicycle stations nearby.
Around the station, you will also find the Porte d'Aix, the University of Aix-Marseille, the Cité de la Musique de Marseille and the Bilal mosque.
Wherever you go, don't forget to book your parking space in Marseille with Parclick!
