Bijlmer ArenA station actually consists of two stations in Amsterdam Southeast. It is a bit confusing: Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA is the name of the train station and Station Bijlmer ArenA is the name of the metro station. Fortunately, the stations are located together between the ArenA Boulevard and the Amsterdamse Poort shopping center.
The Bijlmer ArenA station consists of eight tracks. Two of them (tracks 4 and 5) are intended for the metro. Two other tracks connect to the Utrechtboog, which provides a direct connection between Utrecht Central Station and Schiphol Airport. As a result, transfer to Duivendrecht is no longer necessary and that saves many travelers a lot of time.
The station had to be spacious because it has to be able to handle large flows of travelers mainly just before and just after events. On the ArenA Boulevard you will find the Johan Cruijff ArenA football stadium and the AFAS Live and Ziggo Dome concert halls. You can imagine that it can become quite chaotic if thousands of people have to park for concerts or football matches or travel to Bijlmer ArenA by public transport.

What to do at Bijlmer ArenA

The Johan Cruijff ArenA is the home stadium of Amsterdam's Ajax and is also used for the national team and other important football matches. The stadium also offers several behind-the-scenes tours. AFAS live and Ziggo Dome are huge halls where major concerts by well-known artists can be given.

In addition to these 'big three', you can also visit the Pathé ArenA cinema, the Arenapark, the Villa ArenA residential shopping center and the Amsterdamse Poort shopping center in this area.

Where to park Bijlmer ArenA

If you want to visit this area, there are several options for parking at Bijlmer ArenA. During football matches in the Johan Cruijff ArenA or performances at AFAS live or Ziggo Dome, you can park for a special event rate. How to reach Bijlmer ArenA?

Although there is plenty to do in the immediate vicinity of Bijlmer ArenA, you can also park your car at Bijlmer ArenA and then continue your journey by public transport to other parts of Amsterdam (or even the Netherlands). At Station Bijlmer ArenA you can take metro 50 or 54. Metro line 50 runs via Station Duivendrecht, Station Zuid, Station Lelylaan and Station Sloterdijk to Isolatorweg. Line 54 is very handy, because it takes you quickly via Waterlooplein to Amsterdam Central Station (add link to parking Amsterdam Central). From here you can easily explore the center of Amsterdam.
