HOW IT WORKS: This is a valet parking service. Drive to the drop-off point at the address indicated on your reservation and the valet company staff will take charge of your vehicle, taking it to be parked in their guarded car park in the outskirts of Amsterdam, where it will remain until you ask for it to be returned.
Remember! This is just the meeting point where the driver will collect your vehicle :)
In a fantastic location near the dock area, just to the east of the very heart of the city, this is a useful spot to be for the Scheepvaartmuseum – National Maritime Museum – which is just up the road as well as the NEMO Science Museum which is on the tunnel road that goes under the IJ river.
If you think this sounds cool, we’ve got plenty more where that came from!
We offer a valet service for not only guests, but also visitors to the area and locals as well. By using this you can save yourself the trouble of searching high and low for a parking space in the narrow, crowded streets of the city! Drive straight to the City Retreat Luxury studio where an experienced driver will be waiting to take your car away to a secure and safe car park just outside the city centre. Now you are free to do whatever you like!
Here are a few ideas on what to do with your time.
The Scheepvaartmuseum is a treasure trove of all things maritime. They have a huge collection of paintings, old ship decorations and instruments, maps, the Royal Barge and a great variety of exhibitions through the year. You can even step aboard a replica of one of the famous East Indiaman ships that voyaged across the world to the Far East in the 17th and 18th centuries. As for the NEMO, prepare to have your mind blown by all sorts of weird and wonderful exhibitions, exploring the many fascinating parts of the scientific world.
For live music we highly recommend the Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ, one of the most important places in the whole of the Netherlands for contemporary music. With their flexible concert hall, they put on over 250 concerts a year coming in all shapes and sizes covering everything from classical to electronic to jazz and much more. Another good spot is the brouwerij ´t IJ, a brewery with its own pub attached, making it the perfect place for a truly authentic taste of Netherlands!
One last thing that we can’t leave out is the Basiliek van de Heilige Nicolaas – Basilica of St. Nicholas – which is the city’s major Catholic church and really is a sight to behold!
◊ Move around
The number 22 bus stops on Wittenburgergracht, just round the corner from the hotel. From there it is only 10 minutes’ journey to Central Station and after that the whole city is within your grasp!
» To get here
The easiest route in is to exit the A10 ring road onto S114. At the end, head south on the S100 and turn right, before the water, onto Cruquiuskade. Carry on along the water’s edge and the studio is on Kleine Wittenburgerstraat, which will be on your right.
In order to make your trip as smooth and enjoyable as possible, we recommend booking parking in advance.
