Bordeaux-Saint-Jean train station is located south of Bordeaux. It is located on the river Marne and not far from the Eiffel footbridge which, dating from the 19th century, allowed trains to pass through.

Classified as a historical monument since 1984, the station is directly connected to the city centre by the tram line C (Gare Saint-Jean stop), as well as by numerous bus lines.

Gare Saint-Jean station welcomes around 12 million passengers a year. This makes it the leading station in Aquitaine. Its destination cities are numerous, including Paris, Lyon, Marseille... and Irun on the French-Spanish border. TGV, TER and Intercity trains, as well as freight trains, pass through the station.
