Puerta del Sol of Madrid is a place where everything happens. Puerta del Sol is without a doubt one of the main attractions of Madrid and the fact that it is in the center of the city makes it a good place for travelling. Apart from the Cercanías train stop and a Metro station with connections to lines 1, 2 and 3, you can walk from here to the Plaza Mayor, Gran Vía, Chueca, La Latina or the Paseo del Prado.

One of those is kilometer zero, which you will boast about everywhere on your social media.  Don´t leave out some of the hundred-year-old shops that Madrid has. Buy a lottery ticket in Doña Manolita, eat a napolitana in La Mallorquina or check the time on the Antigua Relojería de la Sal.

The Puerta del Sol is, so to speak, the center of Spain, since from here all the main highways branch out towards the rest of the country from the famous Kilometer Zero. Other points of interest are the Casa de Correos with its famous clock (that the whole world has at one point or another hated during Christmas Eve) and the statue of Oso y el Madroño, a symbol of the capital.

If you have taken all you can take in Sol, try a calamari sandwich in Plaza Mayor or window shop in Calle Preciados (or shop if your wallet can take it).
