Where to park in Puerta del Sol

Puerta del Sol of Madrid is a place where everything happens. Each year, thousands of people say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new, not just from this plaza but also from the televisions that show the live announcement of the new year according to the Casa de Correos clock. The 15M movement also started here, among other controversial debates like the “Oh, White Christmas” poster of the new season of the Narcos series.

Puerta del Sol is without a doubt one of the main attractions of Madrid and the fact that it is in the center of the city makes it a good place for travelling. Apart from the Cercanías train stop and a Metro station with connections to lines 1, 2 and 3, you can walk from here to the Plaza Mayor, Gran Vía, Chueca, La Latina or the Paseo del Prado.

Being so close to other points of interest, like the Palacio Real (we had to tell you about this one but if we include the rest, it would be a very large list), the Puerta del Sol shines on its own and has great places for photos. One of those is kilometer zero, which you will boast about everywhere on your social media.  Don´t leave out some of the hundred-year-old shops that Madrid has. Buy a lottery ticket in Doña Manolita, eat a napolitana in La Mallorquina or check the time on the Antigua Relojería de la Sal.

The great connections in this section of Madrid makes leaving your car here a good option, since you are already connected to the most important zones of the city. Look at the interactive online map from Parclick and choose the best parking spot according to your plans. The wide variety of parking spaces that we offer allows you to choose the best one based on the location and price.

With your car securely parked in a constantly monitored parking deck, you will not have to worry about the traffic or the Residential Priority Area zones (APR). These are places where you can only drive if you are a resident and if you mess up, your wallet will turn into a black hole. If you want to save yourself from a fine and flee from the complicated streets in the center of Madrid, park your car before you arrive with Parclick.

Puerta del Sol: entrance to old Madrid

Culture and free time in the historic center

The Puerta del Sol is, so to speak, the center of Spain, since from here all the main highways branch out towards the rest of the country from the famous Kilometer Zero. Other points of interest are the Casa de Correos with its famous clock (that the whole world has at one point or another hated during Christmas Eve) and the statue of Oso y el Madroño, a symbol of the capital.

If you prefer finding new bars and enjoying parties rather than looking at sculptures, admiring the architecture or getting to know new places, then you are still in the right spot. Close to the Puerta del Sol, you have mythic taverns where you can grab a beer, make a bet on an innovative tournament like Beer Pong in Star Coyote, go to a hookah bar, or the Joy Eslava lounge, one of the most historic places in Madrid to listen to good live music night after night.

If you have taken all you can take in Sol, try a calamari sandwich in Plaza Mayor or window shop in Calle Preciados (or shop if your wallet can take it). Finally, take a break in one of the terraces of the Santa Ana Plaza. Make all your plans with the security of having left your car in a monitored spot thanks to Parclick. You will be able to choose to leave your car for as many hours as necessary in the best place for you.
