Where to park in Sagrada Familia

All people who visit Barcelona have something in common.

They feel cold? Of course not.

Walk along the Ramblas? Okay, maybe.

But there is something else... something that truly is unmissable, something that everyone will come home with a postcard of, or a magnet or a snowball with what inside? The Sagrada Familia of course!

This is because this is a place to visit absolutely during your trip to Barcelona. It does not matter if you are Catholic, evangelist, Buddhist, atheist, or a follower of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (yes, it exists!), Sagrada Familia is more than religion, it’s Art and one of Gaudi’s greatest works ever.

Located in the heart of the Essenche district, on the Calle de Mallorca, the Sagrada Familia is always surrounded by tourists at every and any hour of the day. That’s why, if you are thinking of going by car, then you have two choices. The first is perfect if you are an ace by taking photos at full speed, as there is no parking in the street, so get the best snap you can through your car window.

Well, maybe that was a bit dramatic, but it's true that parking in the street in this area is pretty hard to find and, then they’re either in a blue or a green zone, which means different rules depending on whether you’re a resident or not, which zone you’re in, and you can’t even park there for long.

So what to do… what to do…

We suggest booking your parking in Barcelona with Parclick!  Take a look at the map to find somewhere that suits you!

... it’s still not completed!

One of the most interesting details about Gaudi's Sagrada Familia is that it’s still not finished! So don’t be shocked when you see it surrounded by cranes!

If you like architecture, you already know that this is one of the greatest examples of Spanish modernism, although its history has started in a different way. In fact, in 1882 the construction of the Cathedral began with a clear Neo-Gothic idea, until next year the project fell into Antoni Gaudi's hands. The Catalan architect then made a series of very new designs that are perfectly preserved, and are still being followed today!

According to Gaudi's idea, the temple (once completed) will consist of 18 towers, although for now there’s only 8.

The Sagrada Familia is without a doubt made better by an audio guide, so you can be sure to appreciate every detail. But just to give you a taste of just how thoughtful this place is, there are 12 towers, which are dedicated to the 12 apostles, 4 to evangelists and the last 2 are in honour of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary.

To see something different than usual, you can go up to the towers, using a lift. Although it’s pretty obvious, the view of Barcelona from here is absolutely spell binding!

So get your day off at the Sagrada Familia off to the best start, and book your parking in Barcelona for as long as you want, where you want.
