This is not going to be a boring article about how difficult it is to park in Barcelona, something we’re sure you already know, especially near the Barcelona Sants Station. But perhaps you may be interested in some options if you are organising your trip or if you’re going to catch a train from the Barcelona Sants Station ;)
Then we go in order:
Option 1 (which we’ll call, ‘I’m sure there won’t be so many people today’)
Always, and under all circumstances, there will be A LOT of people! Not only because it has the second largest number of passengers in Spain, just behind Madrid-Atocha, but also because trains leave from here connecting Barcelona with all of Spain and even with some areas of France. This means that, if you want to be sure to find a free parking as soon as you arrive, the best option is to book it in advance. Otherwise, you'll have to struggle with tourists and workers to park your car as close to the station as possible.
Option number 2 (also known as: 'Well, I can always park on the street'):
Yes you can. In the green areas, which are principally for residents and where you can only park for 2 hours. Then there’s the blue areas, where you can park for a maximum of 4 hours, and of course, there’s going to be some pretty tough competition for these spaces. But if you book your parking near Barcelona Sants in advance, you'll be able to leave your car there for as long as you need;)

Barcelona Sants is located to the west of the city, in the district of Sants - Montjuic, which is also famous for the Montjuic mountain.
The station was opened relatively recently, since it began to operate in 1979, and, as with all Adif great stations, it’s pretty nice inside, with plenty of facilities. So, if your train is late, you can at least have a coffee or take a look in some of the shops.
It seems that we have already said everything you need to know to park at the Barcelona Sants station, but we also have a last advice, for those who have just arrived in Barcelona for a visit;)
In fact, the station is located in a beautiful area, close to the historical centre, known as the Ciutat Vella, as well as being near to the Port of Barcelona and some other famous landmarks!
In addition, the connection of the train station with public transport will make exploring the city a breeze... because you can move around the city by metro, using lines 3 and 5.
