The month of June is arriving, and with it comes the first festivals of the summer season. If you're reading this, you've probably already bought your ticket for Sónar 2018 and are finalizing preparations for what is going to be one of the biggest weeks of international music in the city of Barcelona. All set? Let’s go to the festival!
Sónar is one of the most important global musical events of the year. This will be the 24th edition of the well-known festival of electronic and alternative music that will flood the two exhibition centres where it is held with art and culture. During the 14th, 15th and 16th of June, Barcelona will move to the rhythm of the music performances by the best artists. But if you think Sónar is just music, you're wrong!
Known for its strong commitment to culture, from the very start the festival has been committed to including various cultural events, conferences, audio-visual projections and projects, held at its two exhibition centres each year. If you want to know what they are, read on! The most important electronic music festival in Europe is divided into two sections: Sónar by day and Sónar by night:
Sónar by day: takes place at the Fira Montjuïc exhibition centre in Barcelona. Here you will be able to attend the concerts of countless emerging artists, as well as activities proposed within the framework of the congress of technology and creativity. The daytime hours of Sónar are from 1pm to 11pm.
Sónar by night: Fira Gran Via, in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, is the exhibition centre that hosts the huge performances of Sónar by night. From 8.30pm onwards you will be able to enjoy the great names of international electronic music.
As you can imagine, you won't be the only one there to enjoy the event. Going to this important music festival without having thought about parking in Barcelona would be quite complicated, as there will be vehicles all around the event and finding parking will be an impossible task. So, to enjoy Sónar 2018 from the very start, book your parking space at Fira Montjuïc or Fira Gran Via through Parclick's online application. This way you will enjoy Sónar without having to worry about your vehicle.
Bearing in mind that more than 123,000 visitors from 105 different countries attended last year’s Sónar, it is easy to understand that the overcrowding of people and cars will be extreme. So, reserving a parking space with Parclick is an option you'll need to consider before putting on your festival sunnies and enjoying the music.
With 25 years of history, this is one of the most internationally renowned electronic/alternative music events. If all goes according to plan, this year the attendance is likely to surpass last year's scandalous figures. Sónar 2018 brings together an infinite number of bands, both consolidated and emerging, to enjoy a cultural event at a global level together.
Of course, we couldn't leave without talking about the highlights of this year's line-up, which has undoubtedly once again exceeded the expectations of the festival's fans. As always, the festival is once again focusing on new trends, fresh sounds and underground trends such as trap, rap and pop influenced by Jamaican trends or 1980s roots.
Among the most eagerly awaited on the national scene is Rosalía, who will present her new work exclusively to the audience of Sónar. The artist remains at the top of her game after breaking with the patterns of a genre as solid as flamenco, accompanied by the innovative sounds of Raúl Refree's guitar. He will also perform at Sónar, although this time alone, presenting his electronic music proposal with visual elements.
You can't miss the groundbreaking style of Argentine rapper Nathy Peluso either. Nourished by swing, jazz, bossanova and theatre, Nathy Peluso has managed to position herself among the most prestigious emerging artists on the scene, defended by the impenetrable cover of a non-structured, aggressive and dramatic rap. Undoubtedly, the Argentinean is willing to not go unnoticed during Sónar 2018.
If you plan to visit Sónar 2018 on 14th, 15th and 16th June, you can now log on to the Parclick online application and book your parking space with us.
