The Necker-Enfants Sants hospital is an important university hospital centre of the 15th arrondissement, in the Necker district. CHU Necker is part of the Paris-Descartes University Medical School, and specialises in paediatrics, and it has a strong focus on research. 

Although most of the patients are children or teenagers, the adults are treated too: the Necker hospital has a maternity, a radiology, an emergency department, as well laboratories.
