Where to park in The Carnavalet Museum

NOTICE: The Carnavalet - History of Paris Museum is under construction. Reopening is planned for Spring 2020.

Do you want to know more about the history of Paris? Are you interested in the French Revolution? If so, the Carnavalet Museum is for you. Located on rue des Franc-Bourgeois in the heart of the Marais district in Paris, the hotel that once housed the Marquise de Sévigné offers thousands of objects, paintings and models to discover.

Before coming to visit the Carnavalet museum, if you plan to come to Paris by car, you need to find out where to park around the Carnavalet museum (it has to be said, parking in the Le Marais district is not easy).

The Carnavalet Museum

It is through reconstructed decorations from the 17th to the 20th century that we can discover the heritage of Paris' history. With hundreds of rooms, memorials, everything is done to make visitors feel "as they were in the past" and enjoy the richness of the place. Consisting of two hotels and a museum, you can then wander freely throughout the museum!

Interesting Facts about the Carnavalet Museum

  • The Carnavalet Gardens have more than 2000 different species!

  • The catacombs of the Ile de la Cité belong to the Museum!

  • The museum does not have a car park! Which is a pain!

  • But that's why we're here, to offer you the best parking spaces around the Carnavelet Museum.

How to get to the Musée Carnavalet - History of Paris

By car :

We advise you to park around the Marais, such as in the 4th arrondissement or towards the Town Hall. If you come by car but do not wish to drive into Central Paris, you can park in a car park on the outskirts of Paris and continue by public transport.

By Metro:

  • Line 1: Get off at Hôtel de Ville Station and head towards the Marais Sud (BHV Marais, Rue de Rivoli, Hôtel de Ville)

  • Line 11: Get off at Rambuteau Station and head towards the Marais Nord (Rue de Rambuteau, Rue des Archives, Arts et Métiers).

By Overground Train (RER):

Take RER lines A, B, D ton the Châtelet - Les Halles Station and continue on foot via Rue Rambuteau!

By Bus:

Take bus lines 38 and 75 to Grenier Saint-Lazare - Quartier de l'Horloge station.

Take bus line 29 to Archives Station - Rambuteau (get off right in front of the Centre George Pompidou!)

By Vélib (City Bicycle):

You can rent out a bicycle using the Vélib scheme in bike stations all over the city!

To put it simply, parking in the Marais is a bit of a hassle... unless of course you park with Parclick and reserve your space in advance. Save money, time and stress on your parking in Paris!

J'y suis allée deux fois, toujours quelqu'un de dispo pour m'accueillir avec gentillesse. Ponctualité et respect des horaires prévus.

David Stalling

Easy to find. Number plate recognition worked well, and the gate opened straight away. There was ample parking space (perhaps not surprising as we used it during new year's holidays).

Johannes

Es wäre sehr hilfreich, wenn es im Internet eine schnelle Übersicht der Garagen geordnet nach der Einfahrtshöhe gäbe. In Paris z. B. sind die meisten Garagen nur 1,90m hoch.

Nadia

Très bien, personnel dans la loge du parking Très à l'écoute
